More cellular energy
Absorbed by the mitochondria, red light promotes the production of ATP — the cell's fuel. A better-supplied tissue works and repairs itself better.
Certain wavelengths pass through the skin and reach our cells. Deep red and near-infrared stimulate energy production there — this is the principle behind the devices we distribute in Europe.

Drag the slider: this site's colour follows the selected wavelength. Beyond 780 nm the eye no longer sees anything — the radiation, however, penetrates more deeply.
This is neither a belief nor a novelty: the respiratory chain of our mitochondria contains a molecule, cytochrome c oxidase, which absorbs red and near-infrared. This is the starting point of photobiomodulation, studied for more than forty years.
Absorbed by the mitochondria, red light promotes the production of ATP — the cell's fuel. A better-supplied tissue works and repairs itself better.
Muscles under strain, stiff joints, aches: red light sessions are used before or after exercise to regain comfort more quickly.
Visible red acts in the superficial layers: it is used for skin quality, texture, suppleness and comfort after exposure.
A session lasts from a few minutes to a quarter of an hour, at a distance from the skin, without contact or consumables. Regularity matters more than duration.
Neither ultraviolet nor tanning: photobiomodulation uses only red and infrared. The sensation is one of gentle warmth, or of nothing at all.
Every statement on this site refers to publications indexed in PubMed. Where the research is still uncertain, we say so.
The greater the wavelength, the further the radiation passes through tissue. This is why serious devices almost always combine visible red (around 630–660 nm) and near-infrared (around 810–850 nm): one works on the surface, the other reaches the muscle and the joint.
Skin, blood and water absorb light differently. Between 650 and 950 nm lies what researchers call the optical window of the human body: the band where radiation penetrates best.
View the interactive demonstrationIndicative depths: they vary according to the area of the body, pigmentation and the power of the device.
Panels, belts, helmets, local probes: each format answers a specific use. We list only equipment whose actual wavelengths and measured power we know.
Photobiomodulation is not a confidential field: several thousand articles are devoted to it, including meta-analyses and randomised trials. We have gathered the most solid publications, summarised in French, with a link to the source.
